Have you considered investing in the future of ARC? A gift in your estate plan can help sustain opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, both people you know today and those who will become part of the ARC community in years to come.
Since 1969, ARC has brought people together through programs that support independence, friendships, and inclusion. Most of the people we serve live with family or at ARC’s residential programs (ARC’s Apartments or Dolly House). Your generosity supports ARC, helping us respond to changing needs through day programs, community supports, and residential services.
In my family, we say, “ARC saved our bacon!!”
When my mom died having not made any plans for where my sister Amy would go, my husband, daughter and I had to invent the wheel, so to speak, when Amy moved in with us after living with Mom for 48 years. Then we, blessedly, stumbled upon ARC.
ARC is a unicorn, one of a kind, and the love, care and generosity they showed to my family was life changing. Amy went from being a part of the ARC day program to eventually living there (ARC apartments) for the last – and best – four years of her life.
I hope ARC is around for another 100 years, giving families like mine the opportunity to be a part of this amazing community.

Bequest: Name ARC as a beneficiary in your will or trust. Your gift may be a specific amount, a percentage, or part of what remains after other gifts are made.
Life insurance: Name ARC as a beneficiary of all or a portion of your life insurance policy.
Retirement funds or IRAs: Designate ARC as a beneficiary of all or a portion of a retirement account or IRA using your account provider’s beneficiary form.

Ronald Reigel worked for twenty years as an aerospace technician. He learned about ARC through his dear friend Dolly, who lived across the street from the ARC center. When his friend Dolly sold ARC her house in 1993 for the original purpose of additional day program activities and family respite care, he became part of the ARC community and found he belonged. Through the years, until 2020, he supported activities, such as ARC’s holiday party, and grew to appreciate its mission and community.
When ARC purchased Dolly House and kept Dolly’s name for the home, Ronald was moved by the way it honored his friend’s memory. He included ARC in his will to help carry that legacy forward and support a home where adults with developmental disabilities could remain connected to their community.
His gift helped ARC obtain licensing for Dolly House as an adult residential facility offering memory care and establish an ongoing service agreement with the North Los Angeles County Regional Center. Dolly House became Los Angeles County’s first licensed memory care home for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Ronald’s generosity helped turn a community connection into lasting support for ARC’s mission.

Donor-advised funds: If you have a donor-advised fund, you can recommend a grant to ARC through the charitable organization that manages your fund. Ask your provider about recurring grants and options to include ARC in your fund’s legacy plan. A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving account, distinct from a personal investment account.
Appreciated assets: Talk with your financial planner about giving appreciated stock or other assets. Please contact ARC before arranging a transfer of securities, real estate, antiques, or other property so we can discuss the gift and its acceptance requirements.
Paid-up whole life insurance: In addition to naming ARC as a beneficiary, you may wish to explore transferring ownership of a paid-up whole life policy. Discuss this with your advisor and ARC before making a transfer.
Whether your connection to ARC is through a family member, friendship, volunteering, or a belief in inclusion, you can contribute to this community for future generations. If you have included ARC in your plans, we would welcome the opportunity to thank you. Sharing your intentions is optional, and you may request privacy.
